Mediation - James W. Upton

Like many other trial attorneys, Jim decided to add to his litigation experience and become a mediator.  Consequently, last year Jim attended mediator training at the Dispute Resolution Center in Austin.  Based on this training, he has now been a certified mediator since June of 2010  However, Jim is not presumptuous enough to believe that by obtaining a paper certifying him as a mediator that alone does not qualify him to attempt to mediate your lawsuit or pre-suit dispute.  Jim’s experience comes from being in the courtroom and trying cases to juries on behalf of plaintiffs and defendants in numerous South Texas counties such as Nueces, Aransas, Jim Wells, San Patricio, Hidalgo, Cameron, Webb, Bexar, Travis, Dimmit, Calhoun, Maverick, Victoria, Live Oak, and Bee.

The South Texas area has the finest legal talent in Texas, if not the country.  We also have many fine mediators providing their services to the legal and business community.  Jim believes that he can add to the wealth of quality mediators by assisting you in your mediation needs with the basic premise  being that by representing clients on both sides of the docket, as many attorneys do as well, he is able to provide participants in mediation with a very well balanced approach and understanding of their respective positions.  On a personal note, Jim has also been personally involved in litigation as both a plaintiff and defendant and has a different perspective of our system after having been involved on this level.

To assist you in your decision making process, a fee schedule link is below for your review and consideration.  Although mediations are primarily conducted in either the firms’ Corpus Christi or San Antonio offices, Jim is always willing to travel to any mutually agreed upon location to conduct your mediation.
